High Quality Packaging Case Study

Established in January 2018, I and N Signs specialise in built-up lettering of varying styles and these can be built in both stainless steel and aluminium. Also specialising in folded aluminium fascia panels, projectors, frameworks, vinyl graphics, amongst other things, they provide high quality manufacturing solutions for the sign trade and end users.

Challenge I and N Signs Faced

I & N signs considers quality to be one of the highest priorities when manufacturing signs. Companies investing in developing or updating their brand identity, which are typically going to be seen by a large number of people every-day, depend on this high level of quality.

Although being a relatively new company, I and N Signs began to secure more projects due to the high-quality work they produce – but as a result of the increased workload they required a sub-contractor to provide some of the more delicately cut parts.

These parts include the face material, which are required to be in perfect condition.

Solution ADS Provided

Understanding the parts I and N request our service for are visually critical, we go the extra mile to ensure the project is completed with the parts not having even the smallest blemish.

Tomasz Celuch, Laser and Bending Supervisor at ADS Laser Cutting said, “typically sign parts come as either Stainless Steel or Aluminium, therefore extra care is required immediately and it is not just the front facing side you need to protect from damage”.

“We begin by using a lot of oil for added protection against spattering [pieces of material spattering and solidifying on the rear of the workpiece such as from the laser bed for example], this will prevent pull marks or imperfections appearing on the face of the material.”.

“When unloading these parts, we do them one by one before wrapping them individually in foam and taking due care to package them carefully ready for delivery. In the signage industry we have found lead times are extremely tight, so neither we nor the customer can afford any mistakes, which could lead to reworking – and in this industry the smallest scratch can mean the whole project has to be started again”.

How This Has Benefitted I and N Signs

Alan Elvidge, company director, said “We can spend days building letters/logos, and if the face material (ADS supplied component) is damaged or scratched, the customer will reject it and the whole item is scrap. Therefore, it’s critical that the items are received in perfect condition.”

“It’s the only part of the process that we can’t control in-house and rely on ADS to ensure everything is perfect and within our specific tolerances”.

Benefits Arising from Solutions Provided

Alan says, “In a relatively short space of time we have developed a great working relationship with ADS as they go above and beyond to get the project completed on time and to our exacting standards”.

“This provides me with peace of mind that at times when sub-contracting is required, I can rely on ADS to assist me in producing the highest quality product and meet our deadlines to ensure that we provide our clients with what they expect from I and N Signs”.
